   JUDGING CRITERIA (all categories except Leadership & Management)

Please detail how your project fits the key criteria: (each key criterion: 250 - 500 words)

Key Criterion 1:

► The Use of Sound Engineering Principle and Practices;

Your entry should clearly demonstrate that the design, use of materials, construction or manufacture is based on sound engineering principles and practice that take into consideration environmental sustainability issues.

Key Criterion 2:
► Originality and Ingenuity of the Solution;

Your entry should clearly demonstrate that it contains significant original engineering application or demonstrates ingenuity, innovation and creativity in achieving the best solution for the required specifications.

Key Criterion 3:
► Adherence to the Budget, Quality and Program;

Your entry should clearly demonstrate that it has met the budget parameters, quality requirements and time-lines relevant to the scope of the work in the specification.

Key Criterion 4:
► Actual or Potential Contribution of the Work to the Economy;
Your entry should clearly demonstrate the contribution to the local, regional or national economy - for example by reducing whole of life costs or adding to the efficient use of existing engineering construction, manufacture, maintenance or application.

Key Criterion 5:
► Impact of the Work on the Quality of Life of the Relevant Communities;

Your entry should clearly demonstrate that there is evidence that the entry positively contributes to the communities who use it. This may relate directly to cost, time, environment or general amenity of the community.

Key Criterion 6:
► Significance of the Work as a Benchmark of Australian Engineering;

Your entry should clearly demonstrate how new benchmarks have been set or current high standards continued, thereby raising the status and excellence of Australian engineering.


   JUDGING CRITERIA - Leadership & Management

Please detail how your project fits the key criteria: (each key criterion: 250 - 500 words)

Key Criterion 1:
Benefits of innovative program or process;

Aspects may include:
• Explanation as to why the program was established and implemented
• Demonstration of program alignment with HR objectives, principles, training and communication
• Improved employee recruiting and retention rates
• Improved product/service and delivery
• Increased sales/business
• Improved OH&S outcomes
• Improved staff morale ie low staff absenteeism
• Increase in sales and or other commercial indicators
• Improved organisational productivity
• Clear linkage of engineering principles to commercial and organisational benefits.

Key Criterion 2:
Project Management;

Aspects may include:
• Identification of the problem
• Measurement of the problem
• Specification of the desired outcomes/objectives
• Planning process
• Testing and validation plan
• Quality assurance plan
• Training plan
• Implementation plan
• Results monitoring plan
• Effective measuring and monitoring systems for programs and evidence of positive outcomes from implementation
• Where appropriate, information on feedback systems and continuous improvement processes
• Quantitative benefits of goals achieved in workplaces
• Presentation of the communication plan for employees and contractors in relation to the program and how effectiveness was determined


Key Criterion 3:
Originality and Ingenuity of the Solution;

Your entry should clearly demonstrate that it contains significant original engineering application or demonstrates ingenuity, innovation and creativity in achieving the best solution for the required specifications.

Key Criterion 4:
Senior Executive Commitment;

Aspects may include:
• Evidence of senior management involvement and support of the implemented program
• Evidence of on-going support for the program and how effectiveness was determined.
